With the pressures of rising interest rates and petrol prices, more and more people are realising that a standard 'job' is not going to provide them with the finances or flexibility to live the life they truly dream of.
Some realise this, yet don't do anything about. But fortunately there are also a lot of people searching for another way to take control of their future, and are turning to the internet to start their own on-line business. Hopefully you are one of the later, and you're taking responsibility (and taking action!) to create a better future.
When it comes to internet marketing, there is plenty of proof of success...but plenty of people struggle too. Why? An audio of Stephen Pierce I was listening to today provided a great insight on this issue...because it all begins with mind management.
In the excerpt from a recent presentation Stephen gave, he talked about effects versus causes. "Money is an effect not a cause". Think about it...a successful, money generating internet marketing business doesn't just come from nowhere. Yes, it is a fantastic vehicle because it's relatively easy and inexpensive to begin (as opposed to a traditional bricks and mortar business) and gives you the flexibility to work when and where you want and earn even while you're sleeping...but it is still a result (rather than a cause).
To clarify a little, I looked in the dictionary to see how the word "effect" was defined. It said "a change produced by an action or cause". "Cause" on the other hand was defined as "a person or thing that makes something happen or produces an effect".
So where am I going with this? Well basically, as Stephen Pierce says, if you want to change what is in your hand, you must change what is in your head.
Most people want their circumstances (results or effects) to change, but are only prepared to do what is easy and convenient, and complain and make excuses about why they can't have or do something. The reality is, "you can't make money and excuses at the same time".
If you haven't already, you're going to have to change your thinking, because the reality is that there will be times (both in life in general and in your internet marketing career) where the thing between you and your dreams may not be convenient or easy to do. If however you change your rule of measurement to "is it worth it?" your life will never be the same, because if it's worth it, it doesn't matter if it's easy or convenient, you'll do it anyway. Managing your mind is an on-going process but the benefits stretch far beyond your internet business success and financial gains; that is of course if the efforts you make are coupled with taking action.
Stephen Pierce's two key pieces of advice surrounding taking action are to take advantage of other people's wisdom, and to take advantage of opportunities immediately. Stephen is not shy to admit that he is still a student; constantly learning off others and continuing to feed himself with information from books and courses.
If you take a moment to realise that a successful internet marketer still looks to others to improve his knowledge and strategies, you'll realise that especially as a beginner there is no need to try to do it alone. You'll fast track your business and undoubtedly make valuable connections that will save you a great deal of frustration and provide on-going support.
One tip though - if your best mate doesn't know a thing about internet marketing - probably best not to take their advice don't you think? Get help from people who will build you up and know what they're doing. A good idea is to mastermind with people you meet at events - if there are people both more advanced and less advanced than you this is great because you'll also have the chance to learn by teaching.
